Buying Guide: Grundfos PM 1 or PM 2?

The range may look similar aesthetically, but the internal functionality is drastically different. Choosing the wrong model can mean having little pressure on the higher-ups.

Grundfos PM 1: The "Basic" and Simple choice

The PM 1 is ideal for standard situations (one- or two-story houses, garden irrigation). It has a fixed restart pressure (usually 1.5 bar or 2.2 bar). You don't have to adjust anything: just install it and it works.

• Choose PM 1 - 1.5 Bar for homes up to 2 floors.
• Choose PM 1 - 2.2 Bar if the pump is very powerful or the system has high pressure drops.

Grundfos PM 2: The "Advanced" and Adjustable Choice

The PM 2 is the top of the range. It allows you to adjust the restart pressure from 1.5 to 5 bar via internal dip switches. It's essential if:

• You must serve tall buildings (3 stories or more).
• You have a very powerful submersible pump that generates high pressures.
• You want fine control over the pressure differential.
• You need an LED display that shows the current pressure in real time.
