Reverse Osmosis Gel
Reverse Osmosis (RO) is the most advanced filtration technology, capable of removing not only impurities and chlorine from water, but also salts, heavy metals (arsenic, lead), and bacteria. RO GEL systems provide soft, low-solids water, ideal for drinking, cooking, and powering delicate appliances (such as irons or coffee makers).

Problem: Filters and activated carbons allow salts (which make water hard) and smaller contaminants to pass through. If your water is very high in nitrates or limescale, you need a total barrier.
Solution: The GEL reverse osmosis system pushes water through a semipermeable membrane. Only water passes through, leaving all contaminants on the "waste" side.
The latest GEL models are equipped with a booster pump and **Recovery** technology, which reduce water waste and speed up the production of pure water.
Reverse osmosis water is very light. For those who prefer a more pleasant taste, GEL systems allow the addition of a remineralizing post-filter . This filter returns a minimal amount of beneficial salts (magnesium, calcium) to the purified water, making it more palatable and compliant with potability regulations.
A basic RO GEL system (under sink) consists of:
1. Pre-filters (Sediment and Activated Carbon - to protect the membrane).
2. Booster pump (to increase pressure).
3. Osmotic Membrane (the heart of the system).
4. Storage tank (water is slowly produced and stored here).
5. Dedicated tap or 3-way tap.
Water produced by osmosis is comparable to bottled mineral waters, being very light. It's ideal for drinking and for babies. Many GEL systems come with a remineralization kit that can be activated to re-add a balanced amount of salts if you prefer a more full-bodied taste.
Yes, it is mandatory. Reverse osmosis produces pure water, but it also produces wastewater (concentrated salts and contaminants) that must be disposed of down the drain. Modern GEL systems have an optimized drainage system that reduces the waste ratio to 1:1 or less.
**Pre-filters** (sediment and carbon) should be changed every 6-12 months, depending on consumption and the quality of the raw water. The **ROM membrane** (the most expensive part) has a useful life of 2-5 years, as long as the pre-filters are changed regularly to protect it.
