Alpina AS 62 P WS 210 petrol engine snow blower
Before buying a snow blower, you need to evaluate the type of snow that falls in your area:
Ideal for urban areas with light/medium and fresh snowfall.
How it works: The rubber or plastic auger touches the ground and pushes snow into the ejection chute. It's not self-propelled (you have to push it) and isn't suitable for icy or very heavy snow.
The professional model, for mountains or areas with heavy snowfall.
How it works:
These models are self-propelled and have forward and reverse gears. Ideal for gravel driveways or snow depths of over 40 cm.
In cold weather, petrol engines can be difficult to start with the cord. Many professional models offer a 230V electric starter (just plug it into a household outlet to start the engine with the push of a button) or battery power. An essential convenience.
A snowplow that has been unused for months must start on the first try.
1. Can I use a snow blower on gravel?
**Double-Stage** models only. These have raised cutters that don't touch the ground, preventing them from sucking up rocks and debris that would damage the turbine. Single-stage models are not suitable because the cutter touches the ground.
2. What is the ideal working width?
It depends on the area. For a sidewalk, 50-60 cm is enough. For a yard, look for machines with a working width of more than 70 cm to reduce the number of passes.
3. Will the snow blower break if I vacuum the ice?
Double-stage models with hardened steel blades are designed to crack and grind ice. Single-stage models with plastic blades are unsuitable and could be damaged if they encounter solid ice.
