Before purchasing, it's essential to check that the control is compatible with your Aermec unit (e.g., FCZ fan coil, V-Slim, chiller, etc.). Controls are often specific to the series or type of installation (2- or 4-pipe).
Moving from a manual control to a digital or Smart solution offers enormous advantages:
Most Aermec controls are designed for fixed installation.
Flush-Mounted Control: Integrates seamlessly into existing 503 or 504 boxes for a clean, discreet look.
Surface Mount Control: Mounts on the wall, ideal for new installations where wiring is exposed or for units requiring a larger interface (e.g. VMF).
If your system uses the advanced **VMF Aermec** control system, you must use specific controls and interfaces for this technology. VMF controls manage communication between multiple units and are not interchangeable with standard thermostats.
1. Can I use a universal thermostat with Aermec fan coils?
Not recommended. Modern Aermec fan coils often require a controller that manages not only ON/OFF, but also **fan speed** and the hot/cold water cycle. Original Aermec controls are guaranteed to handle all these functions.
2. Do I need to replace the cables if I upgrade to a digital model?
If you're switching from an older Aermec controller to a newer one from the same series (e.g., VRT), the existing 2- or 4-pole cables are often reusable. If you're switching to a VMF interface, check the communication bus compatibility.
3. If I lose my remote control, how do I know which model to buy?
Check the exact model of your unit (fan coil, split). The correct infrared remote control is always specified in the air conditioning unit's installation manual.
