Description

Arexons Seal 5552: The weatherproof sealant

Have you got a water leak in your windshield? Has the door seal come unstuck? Or do you need to fix a vent grill? **Seal 5552 Arexons (Code 0075)** is the professional solution designed for bodywork but also essential for home and boat use. Unlike engine silicones, this product is designed to **resist the external environment**.

Why choose Seal 5552 instead of Motorblack?

While Motorblack is specific for engine oil and heat, Seal 5552 is the champion of **structural and climatic sealing**:

  • Strong Bonds: It has superior adhesive strength. It's perfect for attaching exterior mirrors (to plastic), lightweight spoilers, license plates, and rubber bumper trim.
  • Glass and Headlight Sealing: This is the standard product for sealing polycarbonate headlights, boat portholes, or for re-sealing windshields, ensuring complete waterproofing.
  • Low Modulus: This means it's very elastic and soft. If the bonded materials move (e.g., thermal expansion in summer and winter), the silicone stretches without tearing.
  • Safe on materials: Being a neutral silicone, it does not stain mirrors and does not rust unpainted sheet metal.

Typical Applications

  • Sealing sunroofs and windows.
  • Bonding of air intakes and wheel arches.
  • Repair of torn door seals.
  • Rear light sealing to prevent condensation.
  • Applications in the nautical and camper sectors (waterproofing).

Instructions for use

  1. Surfaces must be clean, dry and degreased (use an anti-silicone cleaner or degreaser).
  2. Pierce the seal of the tube with the back of the cap and screw on the nozzle.
  3. Cut the nozzle at 45° to the desired width.
  4. Apply the product. To bond, press the parts together and secure them with tape until dry.
  5. Skin formation in 10-20 minutes. Complete hardening in 24 hours.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I use it to glue the interior rearview mirror to the glass?

No. For the center rearview mirror (metal on glass), you need a specific two-component structural or anaerobic glue. Silicone is elastic, and the mirror would vibrate excessively or fall off over time.

Is this okay for sealing the oil pan?

Technically, it's oil-resistant, but for that application, it's much better to use Motorblack or Oximix , which are specifically designed to withstand the pressure and heat of the engine. Use Seal 5552 for bodywork.

Can it be painted over?

No, like all pure silicones, it cannot be overpainted (the paint will slide off). If you need to paint, use the paint first and apply the silicone as a finish, or opt for polyurethane sealants.

Is it seawater resistant?

Yes, it is excellent for nautical use (above the waterline), for sealing portlights, cable glands and deck hardware thanks to its resistance to salt and UV rays.
