Arexons Motorblack: The Legendary "Black Paste"

Are you having your scooter serviced, your car serviced, or repairing agricultural machinery? When you remove a crankcase, the original gasket almost always has to be thrown away. Arexons Motorblack (60g Tube - Code 0094) is the liquid gasket that allows you to create a perfect, elastic, and long-lasting seal directly on the part, saving you the cost and hassle of purchasing an original replacement.

Why should every garage have a tube of it?

Motorblack is a single-component acetic silicone elastomer that cures at room temperature. Here's why it's a bestseller:

  • Maximum Adaptability: Fills micro-scratches and imperfections on metal surfaces better than any solid gasket, ensuring a watertight seal even on old or damaged crankcases.
  • Vibration Resistance: Unlike rigid pastes, Motorblack remains elastic (rubber-like), absorbing engine vibrations without cracking.
  • Original Look: The matte black color blends perfectly with engine parts and plastics, for an invisible and professional repair.
  • Typical applications: Oil pans, valve covers (tappets), water pumps, timing cases, gearboxes, differentials.

Instructions for use (Do it yourself)

  1. Thoroughly clean the surfaces to be sealed, removing oils, grease and residues of old gasket (use a solvent or thinner).
  2. Unscrew the cap and pierce the tube seal. Screw on the plastic nozzle (included).
  3. Cut the tip of the nozzle to the desired width (for a thin or thick bead).
  4. Apply a continuous bead to one of the two parts, surrounding all the screw holes.
  5. Assemble the parts within 5-10 minutes (before the "skin" forms). There's no need to tighten them immediately: place the parts side by side, wait a bit for the silicone to begin to stretch, and then tighten them completely.
  6. Leave to dry: the vehicle can be used after a few hours, but complete vulcanization takes 24 hours.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I use it to seal my gas tank?

Absolutely NOT. Motorblack, like all acetic silicones, dissolves in liquid gasoline. Do not use it on carburetors, faucets, or tanks. It does, however, resist engine oil and diesel fuel.

Is this better than Pasta Rossa?

It depends on the application. Red Paste (Motorsil D) resists even higher temperatures (ideal for cylinder heads, exhausts, and turbines). Motorblack is more specific for oil sealing and has a more aesthetically pleasing color for sumps and crankcases. If you don't mind extreme heat, Black is often preferred.

How long does the tube last once opened?

Silicones tend to harden in the nozzle. Tip: After use, leave a little silicone to form a "plug" outside the nozzle, or seal it tightly with tape. If stored properly in a cool place, it can last several months.

Is it also suitable for marine engines?

Yes, it's resistant to fresh and salt water. It's excellent for sealing thermostats or water pumps on outboard and inboard engines.
