Arexons Metal Filler: Rebuild your bodywork like a pro
When the damage goes beyond a simple scratch and you find yourself faced with holes, cracks, or deep dents on the bodywork, the solution is Arexons Metal Filler . It's a professional product based on unsaturated polyester resins, essential for restoring the flatness of metal surfaces before painting.
Why choose this two-component putty?
Unlike ready-made (single-component) fillers that dry only through evaporation and tend to shrink, this filler hardens through a chemical reaction thanks to the included catalyst. This offers crucial advantages:
- No shrinkage: The volume you apply remains the same, it does not "sink" once dry.
- Speed: Hardens quickly, allowing you to sand and paint quickly.
- Spreadability: The creamy consistency allows it to be spread easily without creating too many imperfections to correct later.
Technical Specifications
- Contents: 200 ml jar + hardener tube.
- Color: Grey/Beige (neutral for painting).
- Supports: Car sheet metal, motorcycle frames, iron gates, agricultural machinery.
- Pot life: Approximately 5-10 minutes after mixing (at 20°C).
How to use: How to mix and apply correctly
- Surface preparation: Sand the damaged area (P80 grit) to remove rust and old paint. The sheet metal must be bare, rough, and clean (degrease with solvent).
- Mixing (Crucial): Take the required amount of filler and add the hardener in a ratio of 1-3% (approximately one "coffee bean" of hardener to one "dab" of filler). Mix well with a spatula until a uniform color is achieved.
- Application: Spread the product, pressing well to fill the hole/dent, leaving a slight excess thickness.
- Sanding: After about 30-40 minutes, the filler is ready to be sanded with sandpaper (start with P80, then P120, finish with P220) until it returns to its original shape.
Frequently Asked Questions
What happens if I add too much hardener?
If you use too much hardener, the filler will harden too quickly (not giving you time to spread it) and may leave visible stains or streaks even after painting. Use the 1-3% ratio.
Can I use it on plastic or fiberglass?
This specific filler is formulated for maximum adhesion to metals. For plastic bumpers or fiberglass parts (e.g., boats), Arexons produces specific fillers (plastic filler or fiberglass filler) that are more elastic and compatible.
Do I have to paint it afterwards?
Yes. Polyester filler is hygroscopic (it can absorb moisture) and is not a cosmetic finish. It should always be sealed with a primer and then painted to protect the underlying metal from rust.
