DAB Surface Electric Pumps: A Guide to Choosing

From garden watering to increasing household pressure

DAB Surface Pumps are the heart of your water system. Installed above water ("dry"), they are ideal for drawing water from shallow wells (up to 8 meters), cisterns, or for increasing mains pressure. Made in Italy reliability and durable materials meet every need.

  • JET / JETINOX Series: The "all-rounders." Self-priming, they suck even in the presence of air bubbles. Perfect for the garden.
  • EURO / EUROINOX Series: The "Silent" ones. High-pressure multi-impeller pumps, ideal for quietly supplying water to your home.
  • K / KVC Series: The "Industrial" Series. Single- or twin-impeller centrifugal pumps for large flow rates and civil/agricultural uses.

Not sure which pump to choose? We'll help you.

Choosing the wrong surface pump is easy. To avoid installation problems, identify your primary need:

🎯 Which pump is right for you?

1. I have to water the garden by taking water from a well or cistern.
👉 Choose the DAB JET (or JetInox) Series . They're self-priming, meaning they can pump water even if there's a little air in the hose. They're sturdy and easy to use.
2. I want more pressure for my showers at home (Autoclave).
👉 Choose the DAB EURO (or EuroInox) Series . These are "multi-impeller" pumps: they guarantee high pressure with much quieter operation than Jet pumps. Acoustic comfort is essential in the home.
3. I have a large irrigation system or agricultural/industrial use.
👉 Choose the DAB K Series . These are pure centrifugal pumps. They're not self-priming (the hose must always be full), but they move much more water with less energy.

The mistake not to make: The foot valve

Remember: a surface pump cannot function if the suction hose empties every time you turn off the engine. For this reason, installing a foot valve (or check valve) at the beginning of the suction hose is MANDATORY to keep the pump primed and ready for use.

Frequently Asked Questions about Surface Pumps

How deep can they dive?

All surface pumps, by physical laws, can draw water up to a maximum depth of 8-9 meters (at sea level). If your well is deeper (e.g., the water is 15 meters deep), you absolutely need a submersible pump .

What happens if the water runs out in the well?

If the pump runs "dry" (without water), the internal plastic parts melt within minutes. We always recommend pairing the pump with a control device such as the DAB Control-D or Active Driver , which shuts down the pump in the event of a lack of water.

Cast Iron or Stainless Steel? Is It Better?

Cast iron (JET / EURO models) is sturdy and economical, excellent for irrigation. Stainless steel (JETINOX / EUROINOX models) doesn't rust and is more hygienic, recommended if the water will be used for domestic purposes or if the pump is installed in humid environments.
