Caution: Grundfos SB or SBA? The key difference

Aesthetically they are identical, but their operation is radically different. In this category you will find the SB series (Manual) .

• The SB pump works like a traditional pump: when it receives power, it pumps at maximum pressure. If you turn off the faucet, the pump continues to pump (and risks burning out) unless you unplug it.
• How to automate it? If you want to use the SB for watering or around the house, we highly recommend pairing it with a Grundfos Presscontrol (PM 1 or PM 2) installed on the delivery pipe. This way, the pump will turn on and off automatically when the taps are opened.

Which variant should I choose? (A, M, W)

The abbreviations in the product name indicate the configuration:

• A (Automatic/Float): The pump has a lateral float switch. It only turns off the pump if the well runs out of water (dry run protection).
• M (Manual): Without float. Ideal for narrow wells where the float could get stuck.
• W (Floating Suction): Special model with side suction. Instead of sucking from the bottom (where there's sand and mud), it connects to a hose with a floating balloon that draws the cleanest water from the surface. Perfect for rainwater tanks.
