Setup Guide: Which Material Should You Choose?

The strength of the CM series lies in its modularity. Choosing the right material is crucial for the system's longevity and health and safety.

Version A (Cast Iron): The pump body (suction and delivery) is made of cast iron, while the impellers are made of stainless steel.
Ideal use: Heating systems, cooling (chillers), agricultural irrigation, non-food industrial washing.
Version I (AISI 304 Stainless Steel): All parts in contact with the liquid are made of stainless steel.
Ideal use: Domestic pressurization (drinking water), water treatment, light industry.
Version G (AISI 316 Stainless Steel): Higher grade steel.
Ideal use: Aggressive waters, swimming pools (with moderate chlorine), brackish environments.

⚠️ Warning: It is not self-priming!

The Grundfos CM pump is a pure centrifugal pump. This means it cannot draw air from the suction pipe.

Correct installation:
1. Under head (the tank is higher than the pump, water enters by gravity).
2. Above head (the pump is higher than the water): It is mandatory to fit a perfect foot valve and completely fill the pump body and pipe before starting.

Difference between CM and CME

Can I mount a Presscontrol on the CM?

Absolutely. Combining a Grundfos CM with a Grundfos PM 1 or PM 2 is the best way to create a quiet, compact, and much more reliable domestic water heater than traditional jet pumps.

The standard CM series handles temperatures from -20°C to +90°C. Some specific variants can reach +120°C. This makes them ideal for boiler circuits or industrial cooling systems.

How do I read the acronym CM 3-4?

CM 3 indicates the nominal flow rate (3 cubic meters/hour). -4 indicates the number of impellers (stages). The higher the second number, the greater the pressure (head) generated by the pump.
